The United Way of Smith County launched its annual fundraising season at a kickoff event Friday, August 2nd, at Tyler Athletic and Swim Club. The event began with  dinner and a brief program, followed by the organization’s inaugural Pickleball tournament. During the program, United Way leaders and board members recognized sponsors, thanked donors and announced the 2024-25 fundraising goal of $2-million.

Two-person teams competed in the Pickleball tournament, which featured “competitive” and “social” brackets. Sponsors for the inaugural tournament included Hibbs-Hallmark & Company Insurance, Oncor, Peltier Chevrolet, and R Land Advisors.

Each year, generous contributors to the United Way impact the lives of 1 in 4 people in Smith County by supporting local nonprofit services. Funds are committed to United Way through a host of annual events, corporate pledge drives, and other fundraising initiatives. 100% of funds given to United Way stay local to help our neighbors in need.
